PORTSMOUTH, NEW HAMPSHIRE, August 20, 2003

HARBOR CONSULTING IP Services, Inc. (“Harbor Consulting”) (Portsmouth, New Hampshire) announced today that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Compugen, Inc. (Jamesburg, NJ), which allows Harbor Consulting access to Compugen's sequence search platform. In this regard, Compugen's sequence search platform centers on the Smith-Waterman algorithm, widely accepted as the most accurate and precise sequence comparison algorithm. Compugen's search platform uses patent and non-patent databases to search and align both DNA and protein sequences, and is the sequence search platform currently in use at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

“This partnership allows us to better serve our clients' needs by providing sequence search results from a search system that is the system of choice at the USPTO,” stated James Coburn, President and CEO of Harbor Consulting IP Services, Inc. “We are constantly asked to provide high quality sequence search results from patent and non-patent literature, which become the foundation of patentability opinions, freedom to operate searches and the like, and our partnership with Compugen will dramatically improve the quality of the results we may now offer our client base. Performing sequence searching on the same system employed by the USPTO really validates our sequence search service offerings.”
